Karl Auerbach Wins Right To Inspect ICANN Records
Siobhan Hansas writes: "Karl Auerbach was in court today fighting for the right to inspect and copy documents he first asked to see in 2000, shortly after he became a member of the Board of Directors. Salon have the AP story. Auerbach won the right to inspect documents, but not to copy them, and was required to give ICANN 10 days notice of release of any information marked "confidential" to give them the opportunity to seek a court order stopping him." M : A first-hand report from the hearing makes good reading.
maybe you've had enough cheetos for tonight, cowboy neal!
Go ahead and ban me, I'll just post more!
jamie and michael have got to go!
These guys are crooks just like the people at Enron and Global Crossings.
No. Since Global Crossing was run by Democrats, there was no wrongdoing, and there will be no investigations.
Obviously only evil Republicans break accounting laws, right? That's what my union boss told me, and he's never wrong. Right??
In these uncertain times of the World Wide Web - only a few things remain certain. There are some people who would have you believe otherwise. You will find some of these people editing, moderating, and posting stories at Slashdot.
Slashdot.org has become the flagship site for the so-called "Open Source" community of the internet. These people live and breath the proproganda and the teachings of people such as RMS (Richard Stallman), ESR (a VA Linux loser), and even their own beloved CmdrTaco (Rob Malda). While they claim to be a "News for Nerds" site - they have become quite the opposite. As they have become more and more a part of this growing movement whose roots and ideals are not far from that of true socialism - it has become clearer and clearer that their slogan is more along the lines of "News about Free Stuff for Cheapskates".
Why? You have to understand something. The majority of the Slashdot/Linux community is made of pre-pubescent children who simply do not know any better. They spend the majority of their time attending the local highschool and playing with their friends. These kids dont have alot of money and havent got a clue about how and why capitalism works. Most of them only care aboutone thing and one thing only: "Getting something for Nothing"
And this my friends was where the GNU/GPL community was born. Out of the urge to get something for nothing. People like Richard Stallman who have a vision of producing truckloads upon truckloads of software free for the taking have lost their foothold on reality long ago. I'm not saying free software is wrong, socialistic, or even evil. In fact I enjoy free software quite a bit. However I do recognize that NOT ALL software should or even could be free. This is simply how the world we live in works.
What RMS and his band of thugs do not realize is that in order for Free Software to prevail, this so called community of theirs is going to have to write BETTER pieces of software than what can be commercially obtained. This community of theirs will have to learn to innovate and expand upon existing ideas rather than imitating preconstructed ones.
Instead of spending their time constructing yet another Unix derivative, obtaining POSIX compliance, creating GUIs which emulate a windows environment, emulating the Win32 API, and learning to interface correctly with windows networking protocols (anybody else see a trend here?) - the Free Software community is going to have to grow up and create something that truly has NEVER been done before.
Unfortunately for RMS and his children - this has already been done. Just not by him. If you will take a long hard look at the Operating System market in its current state you'll find only one current OS that was not designed to imitate or be compatible with the large number of Unixderivatives floating around. This operating system of course is Windows. Windows is successful for a number of reasons the least of which is NOT the fact that yes it is truly something NEW.
And this my friends is why the Free Software community despises Microsoft oh so much. They cannot stand the fact that Microsoft with only a handful of engineers (compared to the number of GPL programmers in existance today) have created a better, more robust, and easier to use product.
Slashdot has aligned themselves with this band of know-nothing freeloaders. So much so in fact that their site has become one of the largest public places of censorship available on the internet (ironically enough). The beauty of slashdot is that it allows the readers to comment and discuss the stories that have been posted. While this can lead to an informative discussion at times (it normally falls apart into a large ball of flame).
While this may sound like a wonderful system right off the bat - it isnt. You see in order to quell the ever growing part of the slashdot community calling for change - a "user" moderation system has been implemented. The system works as follows: A number of users are randomly chosen by the system on daily basis and are granted "moderation" capabilities. Essentially they aregiven 5 chances to moderate a given discussion comment up or down. The further down comments are moderated the less the chance is that they will be seen and recognized as part of the discussion. Comments can get as many as 5 points total (which means EVERYBODY will see them) andthey can get as low as -1 (which means NOBODY will see them). Note: Slashdot editors have unlimited moderation capabilites as well.
The slashdot community has shown a STRONG tendency to mod down comments which are either critical of the free software community or imply that Microsoft is not in fact the antichrist. The slashdot editors have of course responded to this by backing their users by HELPING to mod down these types of comments as well. My question is "How can you have a discussion when all of the opposing views are essentially DELETED?"

yeah, and the night before. It was great. Mmmm mmmmm.. having that cock slide between my butt cheeks was su-per du-per good. Thanks Taco.
BTW- Now I know why he calls himself Taco- his manhood smells like one after it's been on the counter for a day in a hot Alabama summer.
Reverting it back to the Department of Commerce would only be temporary. At this point, The Department of Commerce would better than ICANN. At least you can petition the government.
Do your feet perspire excessively?
Hey AC, have the balls to actually post using even your pseudo account, and I'll go ahead and feed them to you for dinner.
Till you actually can prove you have balls and post non AC though...I won't be holding my breath.
Cheers!
Alright, put down the bong and come back to reality, instead of fairy land.
