Ohio Schools Drop Webcasts Because Of DMCA

An anonymous reader writes "The Toledo Blade is reporting that several Ohio universities have dropped their internet radio broadcasts due to the DMCA and CARP fees. It mentions how conviently parents, students and administrators used to be able to keep track of school news from accross the country and world. Now their silent thanks to the money and time that would be needed to comply with the new regulations."

Please change 'their' to 'they're'. Or, better yet, 'they are'.

C'mon, Timothy. Job description says 'editor'. So edit.

Is it just me, or are the grammar and speling misteaks geting wers?

Yeah, seriously. There should be at least one qualified editor capable of at least noticing obvious mistakes like this. There isn't very much text at _all_. Maybe some people don't notice these sorts of things, but they don't make professional, written publications either.

Not everybody can or needs to sing well, but if they are the singer in a professional band or chorus, they damn well better be able to. Same principle.

Maybe we can change the job description from "editor" to "filterer." It would be slightly more accurate, at least.

i dunno how you can mod this down offtopic. It relates directly to the editorial submission, and makes an editorial comment about it.

Ironically enough, the story itself held no interest to me but I wanted to read this kind of comments on community meta-moderation. :-)

For me these comments are on the meta-topic that I wanted to read. Since I'm not a moderator I'll have to field my support for this meta-commentary by burning some karma.

Without these stations, the qwality of edducation is droppinng as we speek!

Editors: it is acceptable to correct spelling. Sometimes even to paraphrase. Without editing, you're just a glorified usenet feed.

I'd greatly appreciate seeing more color schemes besides Grayish and BoogerFeces. I'm a fan of bluish tones, myself, although teal or tan would also be a welcome change.
