E2 and LJ, Comparing Content Management Systems
Anonymous Noder/LJ'er writes "Linux.com is running a story written by Slashdot's Krow, one of the authors of Slash comparing the LiveJournal site engine to the Everything2 engine. He went over the installs of the two engines and talks a bit about customizing both. I really like both sites so it is interesting to see someone talk about what makes them tick."
dirty panties?!!!!!
timmy
Never been so close before. Going for frist next time..-.
WOW! After a long LONG time of not being able to, all the sudden I can mod and meta-mod again
I think I was black listed after moding one of the crazy threads as +1 intresting (well, it was, but it was also -1 offtopic)
Anyone else "allowed" to mod again?
The worst terrorist attack in recorded history occurred nearly a year ago, followed by a Holy War against Islam, and now Israel and the Palestinians as well as India and Pakistan are teetering on the brink of their own war, Argentina is in the midst of a financial crisis, America is considering launching attacks against Somalia and Iraq, and you people have the gall to be discussing a comparison between Everything2 and LiveJournal's backends???? My *god*, people, GET SOME PRIORITIES!
The bodies of the thousands of innocent civilians who died (and will die) in these unprecedented events could give a good god damn about a Everything2 or LiveJournal, your childish Lego models, your nerf toy guns and whining about the lack of a "fun" workplace, your Everquest/Diablo/D&D fixation, the latest Cowboy Bebop rerun, or any of the other ways you are "getting on with your life" (here's a hint: watching Cowboy Bebop in your jammies and eating a bowl of Shreddies is *not* "getting on with your life"). The souls of the victims are watching in horror as you people squander your finite, precious time on this earth playing video games!
You people disgust me!
I have an idea--this will solve plenty of the problems plaguing Slashdot right now:
Switch over to LiveJournal!
1. It's easier to use for the end user: Stop complaining about the ugly colors in certain Slashdot sections (you know who you are!)
2. LJ is designed for handling a hit load of 17 million pages per day: We all know about the dread Slashdot effect--during rush hour I can only refresh the page every 10 minutes instead of every 10 seconds. With LJ this would no longer be a problem.
3. With the speed increase and the ease of use, that means that I could post trolls much more efficiently. First post would be up literally seconds after the article is submitted. Imagine the fun!
4. Confuse the moderators: Yes, they won't understand the new moderation mechanism so for the first few glories days the underbelly of Slashdot will have a chance to show it's slimy mottled self!
God, it's like I'm a kid again!!!
No, I'm really serious!!
Jeebus, I'm just getting excited thinking about how beautiful this smooth text will look in Mozilla. Sure beats that Amber-and-black dummy terminal I used to have! For fuck's sake, I am L33t!!!!
a story about some OSDN manager calling CmdrTaco on his pager to ask him to fix the problem immediately because of the advertizing money drain, and CmdrTaco hacking the server remotely in boxers while still sporting the erection he finally got over Kathleen Fent?
It would be nice if this retard's HTML generator would produce legible HTML that was verifyable by W3C. Slashdot has block W3C from being able to validate any pages here. Because they fuckin suck.
This website is crap. you wont be seeing any of the fucking tools working on slashcode move up to Websphere or actually writing Apache code, maybe a plugin here and there. And that will suck. As bad as Slashcode's HTML.
Well, its not going to be this one, SO PISS OFF
