Faith Returns to Buffy

duffbeer writes "According to an article at Yahoo!, Eliza Dushku will be in the upcoming Buffy season 7! Five episodes are scheduled, along with three over on Angel. Now starting the oft-mentioned space-cowboy-thriller Firefly on Fox, I wonder if Joss have enough juice left over to invent plots for Faith as entertaining as those in the past?" Since the Slayer line has to continue through Faith, and since Gellar wants to leave the show after season 7, there is much interesting plot potential with Faith's return.

    The worst terrorist attack in recorded history occurred nearly a year ago, followed by a Holy War against Islam, and now Israel and the Palestinians as well as India and Pakistan are teetering on the brink of their own war, Argentina is in the midst of a financial crisis, America is considering launching attacks against Somalia and Iraq, and you people have the gall to be discussing Eliza Dushku returning in the upcoming Buffy season 7???? My *god*, people, GET SOME PRIORITIES!

    The bodies of the thousands of innocent civilians who died (and will die) in these unprecedented events could give a good god damn about Eliza Dushku returning in the upcoming Buffy season 7, your childish Lego models, your nerf toy guns and whining about the lack of a "fun" workplace, your Everquest/Diablo/D&D fixation, the latest Cowboy Bebop rerun, or any of the other ways you are "getting on with your life" (here's a hint: watching Cowboy Bebop in your jammies and eating a bowl of Shreddies is *not* "getting on with your life"). The souls of the victims are watching in horror as you people squander your finite, precious time on this earth playing video games!

      Remember, dying early means not having enough time to pray to get into heaven, kids. Have mommy and daddy start buying canned goods and camping equipment today!

      Life consists of more than politics and history. For the record, I hope we send Seal Team 6 in and put a sniper round between Saddam Hussein's eyes. We should have done it 11 years ago. Somalia? I don't know what you're talking about. I think we learned our lesson on that. Holy war against Islam? Uh riiiight. Our little terrorist problem is with Islamic Jihadists...hence if we go into Muslim countries looking for Islamic Jihadists...it only makes sense. A lot more sense than searching 12 year old white girls, 80 year old black woman and asians and hispanics when the ONLY known group of terrorists who routinely (or exclusively?) employs suicide bombings as their technique to wipe out the infidels is Islamic Jihadists. You want to be a Muslim? Fine by me. You want to commit Jihad...I have a problem by that. There is no "Holy War," unless the Jihadist's started it. It's called preservation, not a "Holy War."

      Remember why Rome had such a large empire? It was a great strategy: "The best defense is the best offense."

      Get off your high horse, and either get into politics as a politicians and a policy maker, join the military and disobey orders to make a statement (and subsequently be thrown into Leavenworth...) or go out and actually enjoy your life while you still have it. You never know, you won't have it forever.

      Blah, blah, fucking blah. We should be celebrating (quietly) that our buildings were so great, that only 3,000 died, not 50,000, as they didn't just fall straight over. Sure it's tragic, sad and horrible, but these people weren't saints, and more people die from lots of different causes every year, and aren't saints either.

      Really? Where do I sign up? If there's anything more lame than Christians, it's Muslims. We haven't thrown off one mindless, brutal religion just to become slaves of another. I won't be happy until all organized religion is in the dust-bin of history.

      Funnily enough, post 9/11, it's now politically incorrect to criticise Islam (as in, it's obviously not true, has no basis in reality, and is no better than believing in pink unicorns), as you might with any other religion. Who would have guessed?

    ...but this story still has no place on SlashDot, mit or mitout one's TV category checked.

    In their gradual shift towards mainstreaming this site, the editors lurched forward a bit too quickly. Expect to see compensatory Calculus and Quantum Mechanics stories for the next week...

    (Not to mention that, to anyone who follows TV news on the sites devoted to such, Miss Dushku's return to the show is really, really old news.)
