Daemon News Birthday Bash

Chris Coleman writes "With the publication of this month's online ezine, Daemon News is now 4 years old! Since it's our birthday, we decided to invite the slashdot crowd over for a little birthday bash. We have a special coupon code for slashdot readers that will entitle them to a 40% discount on the latest releases of BSD CDs. So you can see for yourself why BSD isn't dying. Pickup FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, or Darwin and enter 'happybday' as the coupon code when you checkout. [This won't last long.]"

Daemonnews doesn't get updated as much as slashdot, but the news is always worth reading and usually quite helpfilled.

For users of *BSD, daemonnews is a wonderful resource that needs recognition for this achievement.

    Congrats.

First off, this isn't another *BSD is dying troll. I'm a big fan of *BSD technology and eagerly await FBSD 5.0. I also read the daily edition of Daemon News as often as possible. But the monthly edition blows. The articles are either devoid of content, insulting to one's intelligence, or both. Other times, like in this month's "Answerman" column, nobody's home. It's nice that they make the effort to throw something together every month. But it ought to be of use to whomever bothers to read it. If that means a bimonthly newsletter is more practical, than that's ok too.

Coleman wants it both ways. He lines his pockets with money while hiding behind an "org" domain. What is most disgusting is that he has the nerve to ask for upaid "volunteers" and "interns" to run his business.

Sad but he is cashing in at the expense of innocent dupes who think they are contributing to a "non-profit" organization. This story itself is an insult because he is peddling his advertisement as "news".

You know I want BSD to succeed, but Coleman needs to clean up his act. It is really smarmy. If you are listening, Coleman, it is way past time to get your dissolute house in order.
