    1. Work hard, play hard

Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition runs your Windows applications like Microsoft Word or Excel without missing a beat. Use Windows Messenger to chat online or hold an audio or video conference with friends and colleagues. Get the most from the Web using Internet Explorer. The Media Center PC is also a powerful game platform for your most demanding single player and online multiplayer gaming experiences.*

    2. Create your own digital media library

Right at your fingertips, you'll find all the tools you need to enjoy the world of digital music, video, and pictures. Windows Media Player for Windows XP is the all-in-one place to discover, download, and play music and video, export media files to CD or portable devices, and more. Windows Movie Maker lets you edit your home movies and unlock your creative side. View, manage, print, and share photos through seamless support in Windows XP for digital cameras and other imaging devices.

    3. Easily access your entertainment experiences from one place

Media Center is your unified destination for all your entertainment experiences--TV, music, digital video, photos, and DVD. Navigate different entertainment experiences using consistent on-screen menus and the Media Center remote control or keyboard and mouse. Media Center has a sleek, intuitive design with a familiar Windows look and functionality. The Now Playing window integrates your experience by keeping your current media selection in view as you browse the interface selections.

    4. Enjoy the convenience of a single remote control to access your entertainment

Eliminate the clutter and confusion of multiple remotes. Now you can use a single remote with the same set of buttons for all your entertainment experiences. Use the Media Center remote control to control and pause TV, browse the TV program guide and set a recording, play music, flip through pictures, watch home movies, or play a DVD--all from your couch, chair, or bed.

    5. Watch and control live TV--never miss a moment

My TV is the one place to go when you want to watch and control live TV, set a recording, or browse the Electronic Program Guide. Pause TV, advance frame-by-frame, skip ahead 29 seconds at a time, or use Instant Replay to effortlessly skip back and re-experience a priceless moment. The TV Setup Wizard gets you up and running in a matter of minutes, configuring your Media Center PC to use your existing TV signal (satellite, cable, or antenna) and even seamlessly control your set-top box. Windows XP Media Center Edition supports video scaled to the resolution of your Windows XP desktop, enabling a Media Center PC to present video at a higher resolution than your standard TV is capable of. Images are smooth and lifelike, never blocky or jagged.

    6. Easily find just the TV programs you want*

Find and choose exactly the shows you want to watch or record. The Electronic Program Guide displays a grid-based view of up to 14 days of programming complete with detailed program information. Use Search to find a program by title or keyword, by category ("sports"), or by subcategory ("baseball").

    7. Watch your favorite shows whenever you want

Watch the shows you want at your convenience--the Personal Video Recorder (PVR) takes the work out of recording TV. After you've found a show in the Electronic Program Guide*, press a button on the remote control once to set single episode recording, or press it again to capture an entire series, with or without reruns. Quality level and archival settings help you optimize hard drive space and hold onto the programs you want to keep. Forget about programming a VCR or sorting through tapes!

    8. Experience your music collection using the ultimate jukebox

Use the remote control to navigate your entire My Music library by album cover, artists, playlists, songs or genre view*. Search your music library by keyword to quickly find just what you are looking for. Shuffle or play a single album, control volume, or change tracks, all from anywhere in your room with your remote control. Windows XP Media Center Edition supports a wide variety of popular audio formats giving you the ability to enjoy a broad selection of music.

    9. Transform your living space into a theatre

View photos, videos, and DVDs from the comfort of your favorite chair or couch. Use the remote control to open My Pictures, sort your collection and launch a slide show. Enhance the experience with an audio playlist or album as background music. When you're ready for a home movie screening, open My Videos to find and view your memories. Play DVD gives you a rich DVD playback experience, including one-button access to chapters and multiple camera-angles. Windows XP Media Center Edition supports adaptive deinterlacing (progressive scan) video that delivers more image clarity on your display.

    10. Get the most in computing performance and data protection

Windows XP Media Center Edition is a superset of Windows XP Professional and provides you with all the power, reliability and security you need. Advanced Networking Support makes it easy for you to connect your PCs, share an Internet connection and printers, and join a network domain to get the most from a college or workplace network. The Encrypting File System provides the highest level of protection from data theft by encrypting the contents of entire files and folders. Access Control restricts unauthorized access to selected files, applications, and other resources.

  13. Why raising goats is fun by Anonymous Coward · · Score: -1, Offtopic

Goats are fun because they all have different personalities and have different little habits that can be amusing or interesting. Goats are very affectionate and especially during the summer, when they are too hot to be very active, they like to just hang around people and get a good scratch. Most goats' favorite scratchy spot is around their shoulder but some even liked to be scratched in between their toes. It is very rewarding to see a goat you have raised from a baby grow up and have kids and grandkids of her own. With goats that doesn't have to take too long, maybe about 3 or 4 years at most, because they are able to breed when they are just a year old. It's also neat to learn how to milk or trim hooves and other things that you wouldn't ordinarily be able to do.
