Undersea Deposits of Frozen Methane Found

geoswan writes "The CBC is running a story about large deposits of Frozen methane off the coast of Vancouver Island . The deposits may be 850 meters deep. The story doesn't say how the methane came to be a solid. Pressure? The story doesn't address what technology could be used to mine these deposits, if the decision is made to develop these resources. The CBC showed pictures taken of the methane hydrate. Sure enough, it looked like a big snowbank. It is an environmentally sensitive area. So, how about it, should it be exploited?"

    If Canada owns it, we'll just buy it or intimidate them into giving it to us.

    Take your Greenie lies and stuff them up your ass where your head already is. I'm so sick of the environmental lies I could puke.
    • There is no global warming. We're still coming out of a very recent ice age, moron. The earth has historically been much warmer than it is now. If man is causing global warming, why is Mars warming up too? Do our "greenhouse gasses" affect the Martian climate? Maybe the warming trend is being caused by something other than man, something that affects other planets too... now what could that be?
    • Whatever man does is natural. When moles dig holes to get grubs, nobody screams about them harming the environment or murdering the grubs, because it's "part of nature." Guess what - so is mankind. We evolved here, or were created and placed here, whatever - we're part of the natural order and whatever we do is natural.
    • Environmentalists are really economic terrorists. They're out to bring down the evil US capitalist economy and replace it with a socialist paradise, and the environment can go to hell for all they care. Rather than allow thinning in forests by evil capitalist logging companies, they tie them up in court until millions of acres of overgrown forests burn to the ground. Small fires == ok, and part of the natural way, but the massive, scorched-earth fires are ecologocal nightmares. And the "environmentalists" caused them.
    • Communism failed. Get over it, and move on with your life. Even the Bulgarians weren't happy in the fetid, ecological nightmare of communism.
