Interview With Gaël Duval of Mandrake Linux

jukal writes "Open for Business's Timothy R. Butler talked with Mandrake co-founder Gaël Duval about the company's past, present, and future. Worth a read, clip: "GD: For one year, we had a so-called "World Class Management" team that left us in a very bad financial situation, and engaged the company in ventures (such as e-learning) that we should never have been involved with. But that's all part of our history now, so I'd prefer to not dwell too much on that. ""

Hell yeah, I got your mom on Digital Teenz and she seems to like the income that she gets. Of course if your gay you might like something else like The Big Anus but otherwise most straight people use Digital Teenz for their sole source of porn. If you want I can post the basic profile of the people that access Digital Teenz's free porn.

Linux on the desktop is really starting to move quickly, with a lot of demand coming from corporations who wish to migrate their workstations to Linux. Several other deals are also in the pipeline.

But Linux/OEM remains a big challenge because there is a lot of pressure from Microsoft to prevent its success. There is also the fact that Linux users like to stuff large sausages up their rectums, and this is an inhibitor to the growth of the Linux Desktop.

No, but I've other reasons. Aside from the 'We're the saviors of Linux on the desktop!' attitude of a large percentage of their users*..

They all but asked for donations. A for-profit company doing this.. Heh. Could you imagine letters from Microsoft asking you to join their spiffy club because they need more money? They'd be laughed off of the face of Wall Street.

If that wasn't bad enough, anyone remember an "official" press release on the Mandrake site? It was linked by Slashdot, oh, a few months back. The release in question referred to Microsoft as 'Micro$oft'.

Childish. Of course, one might view my disgust at various types of zealots as childish - but then, I'm not running a for-profit entity, nor am I expressing my disgust in official documents.

    * It should be noted that this can be found in users of Gnome and KDE as well, and also actual developers scattered around various projects. Erm, please - I don't see the masses rushing out and trashing their MS/Apple/etc. platforms for OpenKGManShinyDesktop yet. :p
