Game Industry goes from Geek to Chic
Raiford writes "A Reuters feature story describes how the computer gaming industry is shedding its geek persona in an attempt to attract Hollywood's best visual effects, sound, lighting and animation experts into the gaming fold. The story quotes the executive vice president of Electronic Arts on how rapidly advancing processor technology is demanding an expanded skill set and that Hollywood provides the ready source to meet the demand."
and don't "troll" or "flamebait" this, because you all know it's true... give me 10 titles of decent, original, replayable, perhaps educational games that have been released in the past 2 or 3 years...
Kudos to you if you can name 10, because I can't (anymore).
I think it's a shame, I started playing games on the commodore 64 and I've owned several consoles (from 8 bit to 64 bit) and all I've seen is an increase in "visual effects" and a steady but certain decrease in originality (perhaps everything is *used*?) and gameplay (every recent popular game is nothing more but clicking real fast - but they call it "aiming").
So, here's a message to the game studios:
Get your heads out of your asses and give us some quality games. Games that will keep the player up until 7 am!
