Sun to Sell Unbundled Solaris 9

An anonymous reader writes "Sun VP John Loiacono told eWEEK that the company is scrapping its plan to limit Solaris 9 support to Sun x86 hardware. Loiacono said the version for non-Sun hardware will retail for $99 for a single CPU and that the company is committed to supporting both Sun and non-Sun hardware in the future. Sun will also publicize the compatibility test suite it used internally, and said it may ultimately open the code for the product to the open source community."

    Last night I was lying awake in bed trying to figure out what makes the people like Ms. Coultier of the lunatic right tick. I am not saying that all you right-wing conservatives belong to this category, but having been a die-hard liberal all my life I've never quite understood what all the fuss about other adult people's sexual preference, religion or whether they want to abuse their body (drugs, tattoos, piercing, etc.) is about. What is the moral ground you're standing on when you demand stricter immigration laws (although the free movement is one of the most basic human rights) or banning same sex marriages (who are you to say it's not real love?), for instance.

    I know I will be modded down as offtopic, but I'm being serious here. I really would like to understand your position since the conservatism and rightwing mentality is growing so strongly here in Europe.
