OS X Conference DRM Panel Video Available Online

gnat writes "Tucked away on the O'Reilly Mac OS X Conference presentations page are links to Quicktime video and mp3 audio recordings of the Digital Rights Management panel featuring Dan Gillmor of the San Jose Mercury News, Cory Doctorow of the EFF, and others. (My apologies for the sometimes shaky video--three Cokes for breakfast is the anti-steadicam)"

    Blockquoth the poster:

To be fair, the original poster is right about Apple laptops having ADB keyboards.

Well, okay, technically the keyboard still uses ADB "under the hood," but that doesn't matter to anyone except a kernel hacker. Thus the paradox: if the original poster is such a l33t Unix hacker, then he should be able to directly hack the drivers to make the keys do whatever he wants. If not, then it's irrelevant what bus the keyboard is on.

Furthermore, the Ctrl key on an Apple keyboard is in exactly the same place as on any other standard PC keyboard, desktop or laptop. If there is a special Unix laptop with a special Unix keyboard like he describes, I'd love to see it...

1 Mbps. For a keyboard...I hardly think the difference matters

Heay, just because YOU'RE a slow typer doesn't mean everyone else should suffer.

Out of context (the parent was modded down) your comment seems a little odd. One lousy key is a pretty huge item. There are 104 (2?) keys on your average PC keyboard, and there are very few of those that I'd be willing to part with (scroll lock I can do without). If a keyboard didn't have an enter key or a control key, I wouldn't buy it....

    Would you?
