Live-Action Remake of Akira

GusherJizmac writes "Looks like Warner Bros. is looking to remake classic anime, Akira, as a live action feature-length film. Will current computer generated special effects be enough to bring this masterpiece to life?" We touched on this earlier, but now it looks closer to production, since Norrington has finished shooting for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

He's a newbie, he's only posted 7 comments, and he's trying, but the last 4 have been zeros. Well, hopefully he'll give up on slashdot, uninstall linux and get a fucking girlfriend before he's too far gone. I guess there's no hope for the rest of us, but maybe some of the young ones have a chance.

mperialists by necessity?Steven den Beste wrote a long, intelligent and insightful essay on who the enemy is. I think he is right to see Afghanistan, Iraq, and the suppression of Al-Qaeda as phases of longer, wider war ? a clash of civilizations driven by the failure of Islamic/Arab culture (though I would stress the problem of the Islamic commandment to jihad more than he does). I think he is also right to say that our long-term objective must be to break, crush and eventually destroy this culture, because we can't live on the same planet with people who both carry those memes and have access to weapons of mass destruction. They will hate us and seek to destroy us not for what we've done but for what we are. http://armedndangerous.blogspot.com/
