Given that the story submitter is obviously the guy who posted it on ebay.

Anyone want to buy a 'modded' 486.

By modded I mean completely destroyed and useless. I found it in the loft of a place I moved into, gutted it for parts and burnt the remains.

Yep, the guying posting is obviously no relation to the seller, and is not using this story as an attempt to drive up the final sale price of his item.

The mod isn't even that impressive, seeing as we had a step-by-step guide posted a while back.
And the fact that an ad (that is obvious to anyone) is being posted does little to help the journalistic integrity of /.

Why is this news? It's been done before.

I agree with the Tom7's post, why is someone's eBay item advertisement news?

I am confused? The Anonymous Coward link goes to the sellers email? Is this simply an shameless ad, if so why has it been posted?

If you're going to call your own work "pretty incredible", you'd best remember to delete the e-mail address linking you to the work from the submission form...

    Pretty shameless self-promotion.

By "Anonymous Coward", you mean, the guy who is selling the thing on eBay?

This would be funny if it wasn't true. I never noticed that the AC submissions linked to the email address -- not very anonymous, now is it?

I'm not one to complain about /. editors. I've been reading for about 4 of the 5 years, and it's been pretty consistent all the way -- an unprofessional, overgrown blog. But this takes the cake. This isn't just an ad -- Taco, you're a tool.
