Apple Won't Be At Macworld Boston

analog_line writes "Apple apparently is none too pleased about the decision to move Macworld to Boston from New York in 2004. So much so that they have said that they 'will not be participating in Macworld Boston.' They are also considering pulling out of Macworld New York 2003, though they say they will be at Macworld San Francisco."

    That's possible. I was under the impression that Apple had changed their strategy from recruting newbies to soaking their existing customers for whatever they could get (Like when they announced they were charging $129 for the OS X 10.1 update).

    Maybe they gave up on that and are going back to recruiting. I guess that's the whole gist of the Switch campaign in the first place. But they shouldn't ignore their customer base (ie, not show up at MacWorld). Apple obviously has some of the most loyal support there is, but I still think its a mistake to fight too hard against that support just because they don't like where the supporters are gathering.

    Guess it is all really about lobbying.
    They seem to be doing as a free promotion and get back from the decline of 9% attendence from the previous year by drawing up interest.

    Anyway, this is one of those stories Slashdot posts just to pay the Mac crowd lip service. Maybe, a better post would be the usual "Gosh, OS X sure is pretty."

    Have you noticed all the wonderful Apple propaganda from CmdrTaco in the last few weeks? I guess he wasn't around long enough to know that Apple would produce a good product only to shaft its users later on with inferiority and higher prices. Oh well live and learn 'Taco! :) Hope that laptop is holding up well because it ain't getting much faster any time soon! Ho Kooshy Fly
