Never Mind The 25th Anniversary
jonerik writes "Considering that much of the controversy surrounding the Sex Pistols was centered around Queen Elizabeth II's silver jubilee, it's somewhat ironic that the band is now celebrating their own: The group's seminal album, "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" was released 25 years ago today, according to this article from Reuters. Interestingly, although the album was hugely influential (and remains so), like most punk albums of the time, it wasn't a huge success in the U.S. at the time, taking until 1987 to be certified gold and another five years to be certified platinum. God save the Sex Pistols - we mean it maaaaaaaaan." Yeah, so it's not precisely topical - but still, whata band.
This brings to mind some rather disturbing things.
All my stoopid punker friends use this crappy proprietary OS by this evil American corporation. When I ask them "why?" they just look at me and don't know what to say. "What about free software and stuff" I ask, and still they don't know what to say. This bothers me.
And Jello Biafra is a lisping pinko faggot.

The trouble with punk is that it's music for the intelectually dull. Said more plainly it's moron music. It's written for the ignorant, disgruntled masses who have no real taste in music. Nobody actually enjoys listening to punk, they just want to fit in. It's a conformist thing.
Atleast boy-bands like the backstreet boys or back to the sex-pistols era the Jackson 5 have a high and sophisticated musical quality. IF you listen to the "LOVE, ABC" song by the Jackson 5, you'll notice major influences from Beethoven's music. The truth is, "boy-band" music is high quality, and sophisticated music. The bottom line is, intelligent conformists who might actually do something with their lives listen to boy-bands. Dumb suberban losers listen to punk.
