Skateboarding AIBO

psyconaut writes "Sony continues it's line of robotic pets with a new accessory: a $249 skateboard! Why on earth you'd actually want your AIBO to zoom around on a skateboard is another question. The U.S. AIBO site has it here, but the thing looks more impressive on the Japanase AIBO site. Other new AIBO products also seem to include, FINALLY, a self charging station so AIBO can feed himself."

The Anonymous Coward's Guide to Posting +5:Funny

    Microsoft

When referring to Bill Gates, make some mention of him being a (cy)borg. Be absolutely 100% sure to spell Microsoft (or abbreviate MS) with a "$" in place of the "s." Skipping this step could result in a +4:Funny, or in extreme cases a +3:Funny. You should bash Microsoft, though. If you don't, chances are the moderators will just overlook your post entirely. Bashing in any story will earn you some points, even if Microsoft did something good. Especially an "All your base are belong to us" reference.

    Linux

This is probably the easiest +5:Funny to get, but you have to be fast. It's only applicable to hardware stories. Basically, just post something about getting it to run Linux. This works best on obscure hardware platforms, especially those not meant to run anything remotely like Linux.

    Clustering

This one is only appropriate for hardware (and some software) news. All you have to say is "Imagine a beowulf cluster of these!" and you will automatically get a +4:Funny, assuming you are the first one to post it. Also, if you put something witty in you are guaranteed to get the +5.

    Natalie

I have no idea where this obsession with Natalie Portman came from. It's one of the stranger, but sweeter sides of slashdot. Just post something about Portman doing a full-frontal nude scene in an upcoming movie. Or something about hot girts. I have no idea, so don't ask.

    Newbie

This is my favorite +5:Funny. The only drawback is that you have to wait for someone to post something first, and then be the first person to respond with "You must be new here." Basically, someone will criticize slashdot for putting incredibly biased comments on the front page in the article summary. Or someone will complain about some other aspect of slashdot. Of course, it is pretty widely known that slashdot is the most biased news site on the internet, short of www.fuckmicrosoft.com. This is why this method usually gets a +5:Funny, as it's sort of a poke at slashdot by its own community.

That's pretty much the only ways to get +5:Funny on slashdot, unless you want to *gasp* be original. But that takes work. Which is why you won't see many on slashdot. Because everyone's a fat hippie commie bastard. It's much more fun and entertaining to be a troll. Some of the most insightful (and funny) comments are marked as trolls because they rub the moderators the wrong way or are against popular beliefs.

If you actually believe that, you haven't been reading posts recently on slashdot. The tone of discussions generally is very accurately represented by the scoring, and usually people who use lame cliches like M$ and other things you mentioned and say nothing else, are marked very low. Although probably what you're writing is a joke, I just had to say this.

It boggles my mind that SexyKellyOsbourne posts still get moderated up. They have some of the most blatant karma-whoring I've ever seen.

In any case, I must admit I generally agree with this one post, except the bit about dogs being killed for sport by sadists who run the pound. What a bunch of horseshit that is.

This is much simpler, and you have lots of more oftions, but one way immediately comes to mind:

Post a guide to +5:Funny posting

And I'm pretty certain posting a guide to -1:Offtopic posting is a pretty sure way too, but we'll have to wait and see about that. At least that would be self-referental, which is somehow almost always magically on topic on Slashdot. Though skateboarding Aibos might be stretching it.
