Corel Cuts 220 Jobs to Save $12M

Cecil writes "Just saw this story on the City of Ottawa's website: 'The Software maker Corel Corp. is cutting 220 jobs - more than a fifth of its workforce - in a bid to reduce costs and return to profitability amid weak technology spending.'" Of course, this stinks for those who are laid off, but hopefully Corel can turn things around.

    Probably not by now...

    But anyway, on topic, how much of this was in its WordPerfect division? I really like WordPerfect, and if over 200 jobs are being cut from the division, I don't think it's doing too well. :(

    Good luck getting the slashdot to do anything.

    I'd bet money they dont update the logo anytime soon. They won't even sit down and have a talk with Timothy asking him to do a little work to eliminate reposted articles.

    The slashdot crew could care less about this site right now it seems. What have we really seen that is new and innovative from the Slashdot crew? Not much. The last thing I can think of is huge ads, and that was so they could continue to make money off of us without giving much back besides webhosting.

    I remember when this site was actively innovating and improving.. what happened....

    Not only could you not understand the difference between "loose" and "lose", but you missed the proper "its" in your signature as well.

    It's hard to understand your point when the grammatical errors obscure it.
