Kid-Safe Domain Created

Jadecristal writes "The Washington Post announces that President Bush has signed legislation to create a .kids.us domain. The legislation mandates that those with a .kids.us site not be allowed to link to any site outside the .kids.us domain." At the very least, it makes filtering easy.

    As a little experiment, I hit refresh continuously on my browser to watch as these posts fill in and points are added to them, etc.

    Noticed that the parent to this post was automatically given a score of 2 when it was posted. Was this because some /. algorithm found the string ".cn" and marked it up? Could it possibly have actually been modded up 2 before I saw it? And if so, is the fact that China filters internet content really all that revealing to us? Really.

      You really need to read how it works, dude.

      That's karma: the post is initially set based on the author's karma level. Notice that at this point it is 3, funny, and there has been one ONE moderation. The intial 2 is from the author's karma.

      Read the /. faq, dude.

      To answer your question - it's probably because of the poster's karma. A high karma causes the poster to post at 2.
