Finding Decent Online HotSpot Maps for Europe?

216pi asks: "It seems that there is no good site where to post the data about my free WiFi HotSpot in Cologne / Germany. This one doesn't help (map is unusable), this looks nice but has no map, a good name is nice, but doesn't help if it doesn't contain any data and Telepolis (in English) has only blabla sites but without usable search function or map. Any suggestions, especially for Europe (and/or Germany)?"

    Or can you?

Use google or your favorite search engine. Plug in a couple of terms, read the links, learn a bit, use your knowledge and search a couple of more times, and eventually you might find an answer. I've successfully done it a hundred times.

Doesn't always work, but I've learned alot using this very simple strategy.

start posting the geographical coordinates here.

Let's build a database of nodes by coordinates, which can be then superimposed to any map!

I look forward to having the "find nearest hotspot" on my gps :-)

Well, why don't you join in and help the best one?

You want it to be free (gratis) which is only possible if you help for free.

You get what you work for.

By the way, maps are useless. Ranges are around 25-100 meters which means that you'll need very detailed (that is very expensive) maps.

Address/zip code searches would be much better and as a side-effect easy to implement.

Well, I would prefer if people invest their energy in installing a node in every brewery, so I wouldn't have to go home at regular intervals to check on slashdot. Instead I could just go into Livercirrhosis in no time...

Yes, it takes some effort to find the existing ones. But starting yet another small incomplete site is just plain wrong and unfriendly to new users.
