Quicktime 6 Becoming Mobile-Phone Standard?
k-hell writes "It seems like Apple's QuickTime 6 is becoming standard on some 44 million Japanese mobile phones. Apple and many other companies are pressuring hard to make MPEG-4 the industry standard for video-on-demand services in 3G cellular networks, and to keep Microsoft and its proprietary Windows Media out of the mobile phones market."
Corporations rule with an Iron Fist, as they do the rest of the world.
Total load time averages, rank them (windows-centric because IIRC there is no Linux QT player):
- DivX/mpg/aviDivX/asf: Windows Media Player
- DivX/aviDivX Tha Playa
- RM/RAM RealPlayer
- QuickTime Quicktime Player
Now, why did they choose Quicktime as the dominant movie format?
err yeah, this news post makes no sense - only post if you know what you are talking about I think. "er someone is doing something on phones in japan, quicktime or something, go research it yourself if you care" I think Mpeg4 may be the standard they are talking about and quicktime is pushing it. I'd think that Indeo5.1 is best format on average but it is not very portable and not open. - mpeg4 is good enough, surely I would take ANYTHING over a .wmv file - if it requires microsoftware, I wont buy it.
I think your brain has the turbo button switched off
That was classic intercourse!
Does she want to fuck you in the ass?
MPEG-4 is! Get off your high horse Apple, and take your stupid proprietary technology and go home!
God bless MPlayer!
