Daily Digital Updates for Archaeology Site at Luxor

Linuxathome writes "Professor Betsy Bryan of Johns Hopkins University will be conducting an expedition to Luxor, Egypt. Starting January 4, 2003, digital pictures (by photographer Jay VanRensselaer) and daily updates will be provided by the team as announced by the group's website and by the NY Times (scroll to the bottom). According to the NY Times blurb, the site under investigation is an ancient temple. For the Egyptologist or archaeologist in you, you can live vicariously through their work without getting sand in your shoes."

I just took a look at the two previous years trips and photos. The overall journalling reads very much like student work ( as opposed to more academic work) and thus is a fun read even for non academians and egyptology lovers.

(here is the image i am talking about)
...just wondering why they would choose a picture of mut (amon-re's wife) with the double-crown of egypt (only a king of a united upper and lower egypt can wear that).

the double-crown is symbolized by the bowling-pin (lower egypt) overlapping the chair (upper egypt). i might have those hats backwards, and it is usually the chair that overlaps the pin.

i don't know much about mut either... i'm not a scholar of ancient egypt, it's just a hobby (my username is that of a curved egyptian sword).
