You're right... free software doesn't need financial support to continue. There will always be a fresh group of young, naive, impressionable college kids to be taken advantage of. And I'm sure that IBM couldn't be happier about that.
It sucked.
Linux still sucks. Redhat still sucks. Gnome definitely still sucks. KDE still sucks giant donkey testicles seething with elephantiasis. Free software continued to suck like a two-dollar whore on Saturday night down on the corner with a whole line of bums waiting for a go with their welfare checks in hand.
