Embedded Linux In Onkyo's Home Music Server

IrateSurf writes "ExtremeTech has a story about a new use of embedded Linux from Onkyo, which runs a home music server. Their NAS-2.3 has a CD-player as well as an 80GB hard drive for storing music and streaming it to other players on the an Ethernet network. Also check out the web site for the NAS-2.3." If only they would make it record radio, too ...

This really DOES NOT matter- not even to nerds. We don't waste our time obsessing over 80gb of music (only crazy people need that much), rather on computers for instance, or perhaps designing/engineering.

Please please please fire the people who work for slashdot that are turning it into a not-slashdot.
Remember, it's the ability of open discussion that makes this place great, not the stories. BUT, if you provide a GREAT story, then you will get GREAT comments! (alot of times from people who KNOW what they are talking about)... Do you think john carmack reads this stuff about 80 GB of music storage? NO, but still posts here occasionally, although only in certain categories. This goes to say that slashdot has multiple personalities. You've got people (mods, or whatever you call em) who focus on the riaa stuff, hacking, then you got your troll(s) who represent and probably work for apple, and immature, morally-ignorant liberals trying to justify their wrong doings. (mp3, warez, whatever)

Concerning this news item, yes the technology is cool, but for those of us that have any intelligence we can figure this out ourselves and we don't want a supposed news site telling us about these things. It's not news, it's not important, get it out of here. It only spoon feeds the trolls.
Now, if you attract the wrong audience (which you are) then eventually the smart folks will leave (too many useless news items) which will in turn show a lack of interest in the subjects they enjoy (the marketing folks will see this), which will then tell the higher ups that the real market is with the stupid topics. In effect from this the site will deterierate into something completely different. Ok but if VA software does not have a business model like this, then there is hope yet. but considering the amount of junk here that's progressively getting worse as time goes on, it might just be among those companies we like to complain about so often.
