Software Libre: DoHS Switches, Commerce Slights
An anonymous reader writes "Some excellent Pigdog investigative journalism: Apparently, The state department is trying to block international support of OSS and Free (Libre) Software. See also this InfoWorld article." Contrast that with this NewsForge report of a switch from Windows 2000 to Linux+Oracle at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. They picked a good week for it.
I've been watching how the US Govt. has become a defender of the monopolies and hughe corporations. They don't appear to give a damn about the social welfare and such things. They just bomb countries that decide to do oil busines with non-Bush realted companies.
But the worst part is that nobody is guilty if given enough money (or gets no penality, which is almost the same). Just look at the banks and brokers. They made the US people loose 9 trillion dollars by making misleading recomendations and accounting frauds (some legal, but frauds non the less, like not counting options as a cost). And they just had to settle for 1.4 billion U$S. Let's not get to the MS case.
Please, Americans, do something, go and vote. Don't let the current parties get all the seats like you did in the last election. At least don't do this things until Europe or China grow enough to be the world superpower.
I would like to take this time to thank Larry Ellison, Linus Torvalds and the FSF for providing the tools to implement Big Brother. Thanks Guys!
