Simpson's Cast On Bravo This Sunday
droopus writes "So, what does Dan Castelleneta look like? (He's a kinda weasly looking bald guy.) See Dan, Hank, Harry, Yeardley, Julie, Nancy and the rest of the Simpsons cast this Sunday at 8PM (EST) on Inside the Actors Studio on Bravo.
According to the website:
"In anticipation of the landmark 300th episode of The Simpsons, James Lipton sat down with the series' accomplished ensemble to meet the actors behind the voices in order to discover how they have managed to create such a wealth of believable and beloved characters."
I saw a quick preview, and seeing that thin, weasly bald guy go "Aggggggh, donut" was alsolutely hilarious. Watching Nancy Cartwright morph effortlessly from Bart, to Nelson, to Ralph is waaaaay cool. My TiVo is set for this one.
One hitch: it's on at the same time as the usual new Sunday Simpsons episode, so Bravo has thoughtfully repeated the show at midnight so fans can record both."

What I dont understand is ALL frequencies are running through that wire going in to the TiVo. Why cant you just do a stream record of the WHOLE analog signal (ad converter) and then re-play all channels when you want to?

I believe Life Magazine has covered an even better, and much more humorous and LIVEly article.
The Article is here.
And a more retro article, of the past LIFE magazine review, is available here
And who was born Abd al-Rahman abd al-Bauf Arafat al-Qud al-Husseini?
Any of you dare to look into this?
FOR FORTY YEARS
Life magazine had a better review of The Simpsons. Can someone re-post Life's article? Thanks for all that help/remembered.
Hey, I remember some Ask Slashdot or something about having a Tivo like system based on Linux for recording either 4+ or 16+ streams. I guess this gives a little validity to wanting to record at least two streams anyway. And hell you might even like something asides from just the Simpsons, and want to record three things at once. :)

This article describes an unusual rectal foreign body resulting from homosexual anal erotic activities. The patient had used an enema containing a concrete mix which became impacted and required surgical removal. The use, abuse, and complications of enemas are reviewed.
During the last 20 years, sexual habits have changed in western society. Homosexuals have shown an increasing interest in anal erotic practices, including the use of enemas for sexual enjoyment. We report a case of a klismaphiliac who had an impacted foreign body in his rectum followin an enema with a concrete mix.
CASE REPORT
A 20-year-old man presented to the emergency room complaining of rectal pain. A well-nourished, well-developed man without signs of intoxication was admitted in no apparent distress. Digital examination of the rectum revealed a stony hard mass. Abdominal plain films showed a vertically oriented, low-lying radiopaque object in the rectum. A spherical radiolucency was noted in the upper pole of the mass. A blood alcohol level was negative. No other drug testing was performed.
Upon further questioning, the patient said that approximately 4 hrs earlier he and his boyfriend had been "fooling around." After stirring a batch of concrete mix, the patient laid on his back with his feet against the wall at a 45-degree angle while his boyfriend poured the mixture through a funnel into his rectum. After the concrete mass hardened, it became so painful that he sought medical care.
Under general anesthesia, the anus was dilated and two Foley catheters were inserted alongside the rectal mass to relieve suction. A concrete case of the rectum was delivered without incident. The rectal mucosa was intact with a hyperemic and edematous appearance.
The patient was kept overnight and discharged uneventfully the following morning. The attending physician recommended a psychiatric consultation, but the patient declined.
PATHOLOGIC EXAMINATION
Examination of the specimen revealed a perfect concrete cast of the rectum, measuring 12 X 7 X 5 cm and weighing 275 g. A thin layer of feces coated the surface and crevices. Grooves in the mass were consistent with rectal mucosal folds. A layer of concrete was chipped off the upper part of the specimen and revealed a white plastic ping-pong ball. This corresponded to the radiolucency observed in the abdominal x-ray.

Scientology is a cult.
Had to be said.
Boycott the people that represent the cult in hollywood.
Erika Christensen, Catherine Bell, Travolta, Cruise, Masterson brothers (malcolm in the middle, and 70' show.) , Anne Archer, Lea Remini (king of queens) , Beck Hansen(raised by scientologists, dating a scientologist, hes one too), Jenna elfman , Greta Van Susteren on FOX, and lets not forget Lisa Marie Presly, heiress to the Elvis fortune.
Most people are under the very wrong assumption that a cult as wacky as scientology would have snuffed itself out by not. Thats what I thought. Thats what I believed until last years Google incident.
Don't forget Kirstie Alley and Julliette Lewis. coke queens on the rebound who were brought in through Narconon. Not to be confused with the legit group narcanon.
Also be on the lookout for these front groups; Applied Scholastics, Volunteer Ministers, ABLE, Narconon.
Hey, Trek weenie, if you're gonna get all high-and-mighty Mr. Brain on us with your use of sic to point out other people foibles, you shouldn't invent new words, m'kay Mr. Ackward ???
Just a few hours ago, everyone was all freaked out about Patriot Act II. And then, it's back into the television world.
/. all the time. I see all these children moving through life, and their minds are unable to register 90 percent of what's going on around them because it's too complex to fit into their reality pictures. People like this are vulnerable. ANd the wolves are amongst us now. Taking whatever they desire, changing laws. And the people just smile because they're lives havn't been instantly impacted by it. ANd they won't care until they're personally and directly by something. Something within arms reach. But by the time things like that happen, it will be already too late. by that time the bad laws will have been planned, written, passed. The only time people will be effected is during the execution point of some law or executive decision. It's no good. THere's no way around it.
Like little gophers sticking their heads out every once in awhile and then ducking back into their internal worlds.
The world is changing fast. I had a sad moment tonight during dinner. Trying to explain to my sister in law how laws are being written in secret now, as illustrated in the latest patriot act. And I don't think she understood why it's a bad thing.
Most people can't grasp a loss unless it's a physical loss that happens to them directly. Just don't have the brainpower to wrap around how they've lost something when they've lost their rights. Tell them they've lost their 4th amendment rights and they say "Nothing has happened to me. Everything is still fine as far as I can see."
It's sad because they just aren't smart enough to understand what's being taken from them. Can't think about anything unless it's physically within arm's reach. Everything else, lies in some kind of fog they can't see through.
I used to get mad, assuming they'd taken some political stance but in most cases, they're just to simple to understand. Maybe it's during times of turmoil that one gets to see how unintelligent fellow human beings are. During calm times people can focus all their energy playing whatever role they've cast themselves into. The geek, housewide, trendy intellectual type with tiny glasses, the punk rockers, the politicos, the science fiction fans. But when times get tough, people get too distracted to keep playing the part. You start seeing flashes of what they're like underneath.
And I'm depressed by what I see. I see children in adult bodies. Kids pretending to be adults, and doing a good job at it until they're faced with something unexpected. And then there they are, just like they were in grade school. I see it here on
And I'd always wondered how human beings could allow political situations like Nazi Germany occur in their own countries. You'd think people would stand up. But then I realize that they were just human beings in Germany in the 30's and 40's. Human beings with all their vulnerabilities and simple minded worldviews. We're human beings too. There's no magical field around the United States prtoecting us from turning into a bad place. If a situation arises that makes the US into a bad place, America will become a bad place. No magical hand will reach down and fix things.
The simple people believe in the magic hand. The cop that drags your wide out of her car by her hair won't do it out of a sense of evil, or meanness. He'll see himself as serving some important function in the protection of the Homeland. Just doing his job.
And when they line the protesters up in the back alley and puts bullets through their heads, it won't be out of spite or for silencing dissent, it will be because they were anti-american. Supporting terrorism by interfering with important state processes. And they might as well be terrorists if they act that way. Better to shoot them as fast as possible and find out who their friends and family are too.
Right up to the end, Germans sincerly believed they were part of some just cause. They did what they did because all the symbolism and propoganda and nationalism caused them to confuse morality with patriotism. No need to evaluate right or wrong, if what you're doing is for the good of the Fatherland. What is good for the Fatherland is always good. Some things you may find distasteful but you will do them because it's just your job and nothing personal.
