The Search for Secret Shuttle Parts

Slashdot readers have been submitting this story about the search for secret shuttle parts with all sorts of insane conspiracy theories attached to their cut & paste of the URL. It's apparently just the box that handled encryption for messages, so of course Uncle Sam wants it back. Quite the needle in a haystack tho.

  1. What if NASA faked the deaths? by Anonymous Coward · · Score: -1, Redundant

If NASA were setting up a base on Mars, and wanted to send a group of astronauts there without the rest of the world knowing, what better way to do it than fake their deaths? Columbia (and the past few other missions) could've carried parts of a Mars transport into orbit (disguised as more space station building), and on this mission, 7 recently dead corpses could've gone as well. When it was time to return, strap the bodies in, and when it reaches the right point to cause enough of a burn up... boom. The astronauts could be on their long journey to Mars by now and the world will never know.

It is a 50Mhz SparcStation running OpenBSD. It handles my encryption needs just fine. :)

Why encrypt anything? its ONLY a space shuttle, not some military bomber. unless there is something "else" happening...
