...and you get modded down on Slashdot when you write that Apple has a reputation for "gay" computers.

When did we go from "freedom-loving hardcore-coding geeks" to "Quicktime-trailer-downloading, websurfing, loafing-around-uselessly consumers"?

We used to OWN the means of production, man! We used to be self-reliant and rebellious! Now we let Apple spoon-feed us this crap - if we hadn't all "switched", Linux would be twice the OS that OSX is. You switchers all took the easy way out, and I can't respect that. We have a chance to make our own version of OSX, except completely free and open and devoid of corporate control and manipulation. But you quitters all "needed" a pretty GUI and no-brain installations and bailed before it was finished. Pathetic. Instant gratification. Weakness.

And Slashdot, bastion of geekness, crumbled under the weight of "ease of use". Jeezus, am I the only guy who thinks taking 10 minutes to configure an OS is a small price to pay for freedom from our corporate masters?

Totally disappointed in the quality drop at Slashdot. Unbelievable. It's really turned into a "fluff news haven". Once these people got Macs, they gave up all productive geekiness for their new unproductive and worshipful Mac geekiness.

btw, This article isn't news, it's an ad.
