Abandoned & Little Used Airfields

KiranWolf writes "I ran across this page doing some research on a local historical landmark. It has detailed histories and photos of more than 500 abandoned and little used airfields throughout the U.S., many of them dating back to the heyday of aviation. It's rather amazing how many small unknown airfields dot the landscape."

why does the US have so many? Having a quick look they seem mostly military.

Well, it could be because the USA is a global miltaristic superpower who is willing to stop at nothing to gain ecconomic superiourity, even if that means overthrowing governments and installing & arming people like Saddam Hussain. They need those bases for when their final solution kicks in to rid the world of the black and arabic man. But only the ones with large natural resources of oil/diamonds etc of course.

Go on, mod me down. Give the truth a little squease beneath that jack-booted leather boot of yours. Can't break that illusion of being the "good guys", eh? The Nazi's were pretty much the same you know...

    Oh, sorry! Wrong meeting...

What kind of idiot links a TRIPOD site in a Slashdot article? That's like entering a chicken in the Kentucky Derby and watching it get trampled by all of the horses right out of the gate -- it's cruelty, and there outta be a law or something.
