Overture To Buy AltaVista

Nate writes "Overture announced that they bought AltaVista today for $140M in cash and stock. This follows closely on the heels of Yahoo's purchase of Inktomi. Considering the significant financial muscle of Yahoo and Overture, I hope that Google can continue to maintain their lead. For those of you who aren't familiar with Overture, they are the 800-pound gorilla in the pay-for-placement listing market. When you search in Yahoo, those Sponsor Matches at the top are provided by Overture."

    Good thing I am going back :-)

    Below is a flamebait but....

    If I had not decided to go back, I would be worried about my family's future here with the whole world hating USA (maybe they are just jealous but still not good.). It's scary for Americans, if they travel abroad, that they run the risk of being kidnapped/killed by those terrorists because of the government's policies and high price they could demand in cash or politics....

    Plus America is changing.... it used to be a country of hard working immigrants... Now I see the gangsta culture taking strong roots in the youth...I wish you all well.. Don't hate me...

    Now don't be picking on grammer/spelling... I want to post it now...

      As a member of the youth, I should take offense, but then again, I'm an outcast. Don't worry about the flamebait part of it, I see it all around. It fits well with the article earlier today. Most of my peers (and I could probably fall under this too) are excessively arrogant. This doesn't help here now, and it certainly won't help when we inherit this country and move out into the world. Look out everyone, and I apologize now, so as not to be guilty by association.

    Actually, women do "just give it away". Hookers exist because most women have standards, and pimply loosers than don't shower and live in their parents basement don't meet those standards.


    Hooker aren't hookers because they like sex for money (ignoring LPIN or other coutries where it is legal and licensed), but because they're drug addicts and need the money, and don't care how they get it.

    Open Sores programmers, on the other hand, are a collaboration (more like an orgy or swingers... if your wife won't deep throat you, maybe your neighbors wife will).
