New Computer Program Determines "Hitability"

illuminatedwax writes "It looks like the process of homogenizing the mediocrity of Top 40 radio is going to be aided by a computer, according to an article from the Music Industry News Network. Polyphonic HMI has developed a new program called Hit Song Science (HSS) and compares "underlying mathematical patterns" in current hit songs and compares them to a new song to determine if it will become a hit or not. Looks like we can expect even more of the same old junk being recycled for us on the radio, although the article claims that it 'will allow new sounds and styles to flourish.'"

and how is this gonna change what's on the radio right now? They just play stuff until they find something that people like, which usually sucks. Stupid people breed early and often.(and listen to the top 40 hits)

  3. The problem is the Niggers and the Nigger Music by Anonymous Coward · · Score: -1, Flamebait
The music industry wants to shove Nigger music down everybody's throat. Here is a clue for the RIAA--we really don't care about your ghetto noise which you pass off as "music". No normal person could relate to that garbage.

Who the hell is the RIAA kidding? With the exception of other niggers and a very few emotionally disturbed wannabe delinquents, Nigger music is conidered the dregs, suitable for morons and retards with an IQ of 85 or less (which really is the average IQ for a black in the USA).

Message to the RIAA: stop with the Nigger music. Give us white music with a tune, and comprehensible lyrics that relate to the lives of normal people. Only then do you have a chance of turning this around.

    Are you a luddite?

Is it so hard to envision yourself using BOTH this tool AND listening to new music so you can DECIDE if you like it?

The reason I asked if you're a luddite is because I read a lot of comments like yours on slashdot which seems to resist any technology that isn't limited operating systems, programming languages, and basic productivity tools. Any technology that doesn't fit into the status-quo, like DRM is automatically rejected because it doesn't perpetuate what you're comfortable with.

If you can't even consider the positive aspect of this software, how can you honestly expect yourself to make a thorough opinion of something much more controversial like DRM, if you can't even fathom its benefits.

Why should anybody listen to your opinion if you won't even consider the other side's arguments? More importantly, how are you going to defend your position if you don't give the other side a lot of consideration?
