Film Gimp Project Renamed to CinePaint

ubiquitin writes "To avoid confusion with the GIMP, the Film Gimp project has renamed itself to CinePaint. The project is essentially a legitimate fork of GIMP, and is focused on image manipulations for moving pictures." We've mentioned Film Gimp several times lately; it'll be even handier as programs like Cinelerra and Kino grow more polished.

    No thanks, Gimp coders. I'll stick with iMovie because it Just Works(TM) plain and simple!!!

    What can iMovie do, and why use it?
    • Send iMovies to DVDs -- instantly
    • Stunning Skywalker(TM) Sound Effects
    • Convenient chapter markers
    There's also a ton more features, such as real-time original image manipulation filters that allow you to create characters and picture transitions.

    For anything aside from 2048 dpi high-motion special effects, iMovie is the much better choice. It comes with every Mac computer. Can't beat that, plus you get the BSD core :-)

    I have one serious suggestion to make. Please port Gimp and CinePaint to KDE. The benefits are laying on the hands:

    - C++ for rapid development
    - QT/KDE for a seriously cool plattform
    - Better maintainance
    - More acceptance due to QT/KDE

    FilmGook, FilmNigger, FilmGreaser... the list goes on. What the fuck were they thinking, giving it a nice, inoffensive name like "CinePaint"? It makes absolutely no sense!
