Don't you mean that Hemos got the author's sex wrong? Sex is one's physical state, whereas gender is one's identity or perceived state.
Sorry to preach, but I see so many people avoiding the word sex for some reason.

Look at my posting history - do you think I avoid using the word "sex"? I didn't consider too carefully whether to use sex or gender because I knew that the vast majority of people would understand what I was saying regardless of which I chose. I don't carefully go over all of my Slashdot posts to make sure I am using the best possible word at each juncture. Ah, juncture? Hmm...perhaps that's not the appropriate word to use. And since you're such a fucking genius and you like sex with men [oh! look at that!] no one got the gender or sex wrong. The name was misquoted but names don't neccescarily imply gender or sex, now do they my philosophical friend? Next time you decide you take your pants down and wave your dick around, make sure you have a dick.

I just got over a 13 day posting ban because Slashdot editors are dickless assholes that stalk and mod down everything someone has ever posted if you say one thing that angers them - I'm building up karma so I can go back to flaming those jackasses. I don't think I was deceptive because I did make it clear that I posted the parent.
It is Mitchell Baker, and Mitchell is a woman, but Mitchell is a cross-dresser. So, I don't know who he is more pissed at, people who spell his name wrong, mistake his gender, or mistake his sexual orientation.
If there is a difference between one's physical gender and one's "identity or perceived" gender, then one has a psychological problem.
Mitchell is a cross-dresser ... mistake his sexual orientation.
FWIW, cross-dressing and gender orientation have very little to do with sexual orientation.
