Installing Debian GNU/Linux on the Rebel NetWinder

Though currently the Netwinder 3100 is not in production, the installation process and the discoveries made make for an interesting Linux sleuthing article.     There were only 100 of these things made according to the article. This makes it very unlikely that I can get my hands on one.

    But, I've got a DirectTV DSL modem sitting in my closet. It's got a PowerPC chip sitting on it, and some flash memory. I would love to see an article on how to get Linux installed on that thing.

      Occasionally you might find one or two netwinders on ebay. I got mine from there about 1+ year ago.

      And btw I've been always running Debian on it :) (Potato only though)

    At Netwinder.net, netwinder computers are still for sale. They have the transmeta-based Desktop Officeserver 3100 for sale for 900 USD. Isn't this the same computer (or very similar) to the one referenced in the article?

      Yep, if you read the first paragraph of the article it says they bought the rights to the 3x00 models from rebel
