Some american propoganda outlets are saying that people are cheering as american troops begin the israeli style occupation of iraqi land and oilfields.

Well the reason these first towns cheer is becuase they are of one of the many different ethnic groups in iraq that has fought in the failed uprising against saddam. They are not the same ethnic group as the middle of iraq. In fact the reason saddam has had to rule so harshly is to keep these people from fighting each other.

So of course for propoganda purposes they start by siezing an anti-saddam town. Don't think it's all going to go so well.

Oh and if it is a six day war like the propogandists say...well israel had a six day war in 1967. Look how well that colonial occupation is going! Haha!

Huge protests in every muslim country. I hope that oil was worth fanning the flames of terrorism.

They (shiite) are 60% of Iraq's population. The Kurds are another 20%. That leaves 20% Sunni, which are going to be the only ones going to be upset.

OT: A Moderation Lesson

If it's the first time the idea is expressed in a story, it's not redundant, and I meta-moderate accordingly. [BTW, I don't consider "the way the hard-drive based Sonic players connected to your PC without the need for special drivers" (or any other part of the post) to be a "widely held notion," so even if I agreed with your position on 'redundant' this post doesn't qualify.]

Prime example: "First Post" posts are, by your terms, redundant, but that's poor moderation; "First Post" posts are offtopic, not redundant, even though the effect is the same (-1).

They're not trolls or flamebait, either. A troll is a post that is fishing (trolling) for replies, and has nothing to do with creatures who live under bridges. Flamebait is a subset of troll: it's posting a deliberately extreme statement, baiting hotheads to respond with flames. A "First Post" is neither, but I metamoderat such moderation as "fair" even though it's inaccurate.
