Designers - Are You Influenced By What You Read?

Silent_E asks: "A student of mine is writing a paper on how Stephenson's _The Diamond Age_ offers a good educational model for distance learning. She has been asked by publishers to justify looking at fiction as a way of talking about 'the real world.' That dialogue made me wonder whether Slashdot folks currently or recently coding or doing hardware design are, or have been, directly inspired by what they've read in Science Fiction?"

Did you just call my comment stupid!?

You, dear sir, are one fine fool. If you were to have caused a HD overwrite in my box based on this comment - I would, quite literally, break your arms.

I have no respect for you, and all your comments past present and future shall now be defunct - for your little "joke" is the reason why people like you should not work in tech.

There should exist a code of ethics and a certain moral level with which to operate upon.

Too bad you arent here in this room with me so that I may be able to express my opinion of you with a little more enthusiasm.
