Calamari Anyone?
small but... writes "A six-meter long specimen of a species of squid [Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni] previously only known by the stomach contents of sperm whales has been caught by a fishing vessel in Antarctic waters, and brought to the national museum of New Zealand. It has a huge beak, sharp swivelling hooks on its suckers, and is believed to be a juvenile. Adults of the species are thought to grow to as long as twelve meters. No reports indicate the presence of lasers; or, for that matter, anything I would consider a forehead."
Did Chimera change it's name AGAIN?
Unfortunately, this was not the shark commonly known as Sharkus Lazerentes which has been commonly refered to as "Sharks with little tiny lazer beams on their foreheads".

Oh my god! Run for your lives!
He said he now wanted to film the more dynamic colossal squid, capable of snapping submarine telephone cables and hunting penguins.
Microsoft, is that you?
Read the date... Sheesh ! I thought we would have
had enough of these by now.

As an April's fool joke on April 2nd...

WHy the hell would a 30 foot squid want something as wimpy as a lazer?
All Troll + "offtopic" mods are meta moderated as "Unfair", because you abused the system.
Who read the headline and thought it was about a merging of the Camino and Safari codebases?
Dr O'Shea would sex the specimen
There are places where the networks are not touching, and there are places where they are-Boeing's Lori Gunter
I remember seeing an artist's rendering of one of these before in a Japanese show.
They used a schoolgirl in the same film, probably for size comparison. Why she was naked I don't know, probably something to do with union regulations.
It hunts penguins! Let's be afraid...

There are pictures of it at these two stories

The full name of THIS
squid is Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni Robson. It's the
only species in it's genus, and it barely gets 2m
long. This doesn't even begin to touch Architeuthis
Clarkei (the giant squid). This is perhaps a really
lame attempt at an april fools joke?
For every annoying gentoo user, are three even more annoying anti-gentoo crybabies. Take Yosh from #Gimp for example.
Try Google.
Sorry for the Dutch, but you get the links anyway.

This 'Colossal Squid' is just one of the new monsters resulting from the Earth v5.5 update patch (that's right, fewer versions than AOL). The developer saw that as the players attained higher levels on average, they were becoming complacent with the old monsters and needed a new challenge.
"We can't have inhabitants feeling too secure when swimming the Antarctic oceans. This new patch addresses the waning gameplay value of nude, sans-vessel, Antarctic seafaring," one member of the Dev. team said.
I, for one, will be camping this new monster spawn in hopes of collecting huge amounts of experience. I also hear that they have gold in their bellies and are particularly susceptible to deep fryers.
Dewey, you fool! Your decimal system has played right into my hands!
Is that stasndard scientific procedure? He hardly even KNOWS the specimen!
There are no trolls. There are no trees out here.
A killer squid seen attacking fish in the Ross Sea last week may mark the first sighting of the world's largest and most aggressive squid species.
The squid was one of several caught on Antarctic longlines this season.
Somebody appears to be confused. Is it me?
The article is misleading. This guy has filmed giant squid larva, but never an adult giant squid. Nobody has yet filmed an adult giant squid.
Someone you trust is one of us.

This link will take you to an article with a picture of the clawy tentacle.

Does anyone know if hooks are standard to (large?)squid suckers. I remember the hooks of Archetuthus Dux(sp?) being a big deal in Peter Benchly's The Beast(jaws with a squid) and i wasn't sure if those were fiction or not.
"Sic Semper Tyrannosaurus Rex."
They should change the name again to Kamino, then at least they could get Taun We. ;-)
"Sic Semper Tyrannosaurus Rex."
The author of Jaws also wrote about Beast about the giant squid with hooks -- http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0679 403558/qid=1049352172/sr=1-13/ref=sr_1_13/104-8943 369-5878333?v=glance&s=books
