FreeBSD 4.8 Released

Dan writes "FreeBSD's Murray Stokely announces the long awaited availability of FreeBSD 4.8, the latest FreeBSD-stable release, which has dealt with known security issues, and added initial support for Firewire, HyperThreading, and other new hardware technologies. Murray says that the new release is also the result of conservative updates to a number of software programs in the FreeBSD base system, see FreeBSD 4.8 release notes for more information."

    War of lies
    ===========

Now it has become clear that the reasons the Bush administration
gave to let the war against Iraq appear necessary and just are mere
    lies:

    * weapons of mass destruction: Obviously the claims of the Iraqi
government the they had destroyed all such weapons were true. There
were no such weapons used to stop the advance of the coalition
forces even though they were fighting a vast superior enemy. Any
"evidence" that will be produced by the invading forces in the
future is insignificant or even forged.

    * Scud or other long range missiles: No Scud or other missiles that
Iraq wasn't allowed to have were found except those that were
destroyed under the supervision of the weapons inspectors.

This makes this war clearly a breach of international law and Mr. Bush
and his administration war criminals for launching an attack on a
    sovereign state.

This further poses the question for the real motives of the Bush
    administration to go to war:

    * domestic political weakness.

    * greed, they are personally involved with the companies they
want to rebuild the Iraqi infrastructure and run the Iraqi oil
    wells.

    * furthering patriotism to make the US citizens swallow the
dismantling of their civil rights and, in consequence, their
constitution to allow the administration to remain in power.

They've barely been at war two weeks and you want proof already? They haven't even enter Baghdad yet. Is it possible they've already blown a decent portion of the arsenal to shit? And what of the chemical suits and soviet-made bio-weapons gear they've found so far? Not to mention the Iraqis have been chattering away on their radios about their bio/chem stockpile and if they were going to use it or not.

On top of all of this, every Iraq specialist (pro/anti-war) has said time and again that Saddam would only give chemical weapons to his most elite units...and we haven't seen them yet.

If they still haven't found anything in six months, they you can bitch and moan. Doing it now makes you sound whiny and pathetic.

Yeah, you only get them on the later levels. It's the same mdl as the standard troop but has a funky new skin and is holding a new weapon mdl.

No, you would have heard of that because it would have gone into the air and would have been detected.

And what of the chemical suits and soviet-made bio-weapons gear they've found so far?

This is proof they were prepared to protect against such weapons. You might know that Iran has also used chemical weapons against Iraq and that US generals have thratened to use chemical weapons against Iraq before the war. Not to be misunderstood, they might have stockpiled these suits because they wanted to use chemical weapons but it's no proof at all they actually did.

On top of all of this, every Iraq specialist (pro/anti-war) has said time and again that Saddam would only give chemical weapons to his most elite units...and we haven't seen them yet.

If S.H. had wanted to use chemical weapons he would have used them in the South where, going astray, they would have hit the Shiites and not in the vicinity of Baghdad

If they still haven't found anything in six months

It's obvious they can't come back without proof, the Bush administration can't do without, so they will find "evidence" even if there is none.

    1. Iran has NEVER used chemical weapons against anyone.

    2. No US official has EVER threatened to use chemical weapons against Iraq or anyone else.

If you have any proof of these outlandish allegations, better ante up some links.

I've seen one on TV stating they were prepared to use non-lethal chemical weapons on Baghdad.
