I have cups and samba set up to share a printer, and I'm using the adobe generic ghostscript driver served up through the print$ share, so that all my machines can happily print through the postscript interpreter in cups (the whole cupsaddsmb thing)

So after recompiling the kernel a zillion times - because apparently parport and lp only work as modules now - I finally get some fucking output.

It sets the margins to like a zillionth of an inch and clips everything I fucking print?

What the hell? Linuxprinting.org says this printer works 100% (It's an HP Deskjet 648C). This is 100%? Everything you print is clipped? Theres nowhere to set the margins that works. Root cant cancel spooled jobs?

What the fuck is up with this shit? You'd think in 12 years there'd be a fucking working solution for printing under unix.

God fucking damnit. I guess it's time to reinstall the vastly superior Windows 95 to share this printer.

What a pile of trash this linux shit is.

It's not individual corruption, but systemic corruption that's the problem. The financial heft of the defense lobby, like that of other special interest lobbies that are generous contributors, influences the larger pool of people who become our representatives in Congress, skewing it toward people who are predisposed to their positions. Candidates with different convictions about America's role in the world have a much smaller universe of deep-pocketed donors in which to hunt for sufficient funds to run a viable campaign.

Boeing and Lockheed would not, after all, fund someone who thinks the defense budget is too large. Then consider that, of the 435 members of the House, all but 73 received contributions from the defense sector. In the Senate, 95 out of 100 were so favored. The very lack of money from the millions of Americans -- up to half in surveys -- who during the war debate have been skeptical of the Administration's call to confront Iraq means that they were underrepresented in Washington, and that their concerns did not get as much attention from Congress as they might have.

Alas, when we have a dollar-driven democracy, those with cash are more equal than others.

I just wrote it, and you linux geeks will love it.

    The app is called "GNU-hippies"

What it does is, you run it, and it spawns children again and again until it eats up almost all of your system resources.

You have just enough cpu and ram left to log in and type "killall GNU-hippies"

    It's a howlingly good time.

Yeah whatever, like you have anything better to do on a friday night either.

This isn't the first movie/film type thing i've seen using a 3d engine for it's effects. Do you think Hollywood may catch on to using game engines for it's CG effects or movies? do you think this could be a way for amateur film geeks to do cheap SFX movies? As long as we're talking about amateur movies, check out Star Wreck. It's brilliant.
