wagdog writes "Many have no doubt seen the Rube Goldberg-like multistep mechanical chain reaction TV advert for the Honda Accord. Many thought this was yet another example of the pervasive use of computer graphics in TV commercials. Amazingly the entire delicate set up of car parts that constitute the facinating sequence is almost 100% realtime live action requiring an astounding 606 takes to get right . There is one cheat however -- can you spot it?"

      Heh. I thought the Rube Goldberg joke (a chain reaction of posts) was kidna funny. The mods who tagged me with offtopic and troll -1s disagreed. :-)

      You should have done those posts in the reverse order so that when I look at your last 24 comments, the sentence naturally flows through the subjects from top to bottom. As it is, your "sentence" begins with "And knocks over this post!". Create a sentence that is 24 posts long and I will be mightily impressed.

    and I would like to say they are some of the safest, reliable, and most solid cars on the road. My specific honda vehicle is the Honda S2000.

    There's a huge difference between notifying someone and caching their page without permission. And besides, a lot of times the full text to slashdotted stories shows up in the comments anyway.

    I know being slashdotted can certainly piss off a webmaster as much, or more so then, losing impressions. Something Awful actually redirected hits from /. to goatse.cx once when they were linked to by the front page.

    You shouldn't need permission to link, but given the ability of slashdot to totally kill things, it certainly would be nice, now wouldn't it.

    I am sure they put it up for people to actually view it. I just doubt they put it up thinking that 1000s of people would view it all at once. Maybe if you were putting up the site in order to get linked from slashdot. Then you wouldn't have an excuse. But I doubt that is the intention of a majority of these sites.

    And killing a server certainly doesn't help the discussion of the article, as a majority of the posts that get modded up are jokes about the slashdotting. And then you have folks like us, who are participating in a meaninful discussion about slashdotting rather than the article we are posting under.
