Could E-Voting Cure Voter Apathy?

Bendebecker notes that The Register is saying that "A major trial is about to kick off in the UK that could help decide whether e-voting is merely a gimmick or whether it can genuinely help cure voter apathy." Voter Apathy or Flash Poll Elections? What is the lesser of 2 evils?

I agree 100% - this elitist crap reeks of "literacy tests" required of black voters back when first given franchise.

To be very honest, I'd personally rather see the vast majority of the /. crowd "squelched" in this manner - a vocal minority that is *way* out of touch with what the far larger majority wants, yet somehow has the shocking naivete to think that they actually "know better."

Though, I have to admit - I would love to see a bunch of /. candidates make runs for office. Half would make a run on a platform of zealotry focused on destroying MS, executing Bill G. and raping his wife, while the other half would advocate replacing fireworks with grits the national independence celebration. Oh, and they'd want to "mod" the various memorials in D.C.

Hm... Makes me wonder... did G. Washington jump up and say "1st prez!!!!"
