Many E3 Game Lists Announced

The list of games to be shown at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles next month is rapidly increasing, and this Eurogamer feature has a round-up of what's been announced so far. There's always plenty of new titles and surprises, and this year is no exception. A notable list comes from Sega, and includes the Sonic Team title Billy Hatcher And The Giant Egg for Gamecube, more spiky hedgehog action with Sonic Heroes for GC/PS2/XBox, as well as Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D Revolution, a card battle RPG for GC that continues the successful franchise. Another major company showcasing its line-up is Nintendo, who has an E3 preview page that includes the now two-seater Mario Kart: Double Dash for GC and the eagerly awaited Advance Wars 2 for Gameboy Advance, as well as several Nintendo-bound Final Fantasy titles in association with Square/Enix. More updates as we get them.

      Am I the only one disappointed with these "Phantasy Star" games?

      I remember getting Phantasy Star 1 for Christmas. I marvelled at the stylized art, became engrossed in the story & fell in love with the PS universe. Phantasy Star 2 & 3 only served to bolster that; alas I was too busy to spend much time with the fourth game.

      My point is, where's the Phantasy Star in these games? I played the original on the Dreamcast and was shocked to find very little relating to the original titles. Sega needs to get on a single player Phantasy Star RPG, and quickly.

      On a related note-were there ever proper sequels to Shining In The Darkness and Sword Of Vermillion?

    I'm personally waiting for the two major ones being Half Life 2 and Doom 3. Just to see the technology of the graphics would be enough to get me looking.

    Pack up to eight players into your living room and turn up the fun when you connect Nintendo GameCube systems via the Broadband adaptor.


    So... up to 8 players on the console itself, and THEN connect via broadband for more action? INSANITY.

      Actually, this is referring to the yet-to-be-actually-announced GameCube LAN gaimg system that Nintendo is working on.

      No, I'm serious, there's going to be several first party games that allow for LAN gaming with the cube's BBA (Broadband adapter) in the next few months.

      And as we all know, LAN gaming + some sneaky routing = internet play : ) Mario Kart online baby!

      Actually, the text is misleading. You can only play the new Mario Kart with 4 players at once. The broadband adapter lets you link your GC to another one, and then play with 8.

      As another poster mentioned, the real appeal here is the idea that someone will create an Internet bridge to be able to play on the net, like they did with Halo on the Xbox.

      Mario Kart 64 was THE game to battle on while I was in college. Now, with this baby, you can hook up 8 people!!!
      I fear for the grades of those currently in college!

      This actually sounds like a good idea. Do lots of networking over the LAN, so the rest of us can hack together internet play while Nintendo can keep the delusion that they're still doing living room play only :)

    I find it a real shame that old school turn based strategy gamers are religated to the tiny screen of the game boy. Thank goodness for the SP so I don't have to contort to light the screen anymore, but I miss classic turn based strategy gaming, and Nintendo's Gameboy titles are about all that's left of it.

      I agree, it's sad that there's no middle ground in these types of things anymore. Except for the GBA, all the startegy games are focused on becoming more and more complex. There aren't any more games were you can just sit down and just play a quick game. Do you like Civ type strategy games as well? You might want to try out Galactic Civilizations. It's basically like Civ in space (wouldn't have guessed that from the name would you?) It's much superior to Moo3, although obviously in a different style.

      Some other favorites of mine:
      Advance Wars (yay GBA!)
      Gemfire (SNES)
      Defender of the Crown (NES or GBA)
      Nobunaga's Ambition (the original NES one)
      Brigandine (PSX)

    Two of the largest games to be released this year (hopefully) that are going to be present at E3:

    Star Wars Galaxies and Doom 3.

    I've not heard much about the rest of the games in the topic but those two right there are my own headliners.
