Onimusha Live-Action Movie In Development
Thanks to an anonymous reader for pointing out that Comingsoon.net has a story about the announcement of a live-action film of Onimusha, currently early in the planning stages, from the producers of Brotherhood Of The Wolf and the Resident Evil movie. The movie is slated to have a 50 million dollar budget, and the article mentions "..the subsequent episodes of the Onimusha game allow the story to be moved through both time and space, so the sequel possibilities are extensive."
This will probably be the first video game-based Movie I'll actually bother to see in the theaters. Tomb Raider inspired contempt in me, and Resident Evil, while sparking some small degree of interest, didn't manage to get me out of my comfortable computer chair and to the local megaplex.
Onimusha's world is enjoyable and fun to spend time in. Let's hope that the movie is for once more or less true to the source material. I'll be in line at the Cinema for this one, even if it gets panned.
That was one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen - well worth getting the DVD, or at least renting. If you missed it on the big screen, sucks to be you...
Monica Bellucci's best role to date (that I've seen), as well.
A lot of people don't realize this but the protagonist in the game is based on a real, late actor Yusaku Matsuda. I didn't realize this myself until I saw previews of Onimusha 3 which will feature Jean Freakin' Reno. It is interesting that an actor will be playing a video game character, who in turn is based on another actor.
Why can't I moderate something "Wrong" or at least "Grossly Misinformed"?
I mean, did anyone wactually try to watch Brotherhood of the Wolf without using fast-forward to get to the fight scenes?
wow. yeah, this is exactly what we need. another movie essentially ripping off kurasawa without soul like the new tom cruise movie, only this time with japanese people. japanese! don't we have enough of these shitty movies already?
Who cares! All of these movies sucks, and any company makes it go bankrupt!
