Preview of Java 1.5

gafter writes "An early access prototype implementation of the proposed new J2SE 1.5 language features is available. The prototype includes generics (JSR 14), typesafe enums, varargs, autoboxing, foreach loops, and static import (JSR 201). In other words, all the new language features planned for 1.5 except metadata (JSR 175). The prototype includes full sources for the compiler, written in the extended language. You can download the prototype from java.sun.com. It requires J2SE 1.4.1 and provides some examples of how to use the new language constructs. The prototype includes an experimental type system (variant type parameters) for Generic Java that is being considered for Tiger (1.5) based on a paper by Igarashi and Viroli at ECOOP 2002 . Comments and votes for the new type system are being gathered at bugParade."

    Why don't you go ahead and bend over. I'll slide that cock on in, and you can scream all you want while I'm doing it. Kisses,

    But since you were talking about Pascal, maybe hangover is a bit more appropriate. ;)

    F U. Pascal is very much superior to C and C++. It's very fashionable to bash Pascal but if you carefully look at the merits, you're in for a surprise.

    For example, function prototyping is C was non-existent before:

    int add(a, b)
    int a, int b;
    { blah }

    Pascal always had function prototyping and nowadays everyone uses it.

    No boolean type -- C uses int as a hack for boolean -- ugh! Pascal has a boolean type and C++ copied yet another feature from a Pascal/Ada type language.

    Pointers -- the mother of most bugs C/C++ programs. While Pascal allows pointers too, their use is extermely rare in practice.

    no one listens to you. you never have real world examples, you just link to high level gobbledy gook. what the hell do you do? are you some sort of supressed low level management that sits around all day and never codes a line but ends up knowing all the jargon and making coders comply to the zen of the day coding methods then providing people with links to high level nebulous crap.

    no ability to get specific. none whatsoever. high level puffery.
