UK Councils May Dump Windows For Linux

An anonymous reader writes "Local authorities in Newham and Nottingham are expected to migrate more than 10,000 desktop computers from Windows to GNU/Linux. ZDNet has the story. "If this is seen to work in Newham, it has the potential to be a significant project, changing the perceptions of other councils," said Tim Dawes, director of local government technology consultants Nineveh."

Why. It just isn't (and will never be) ready for the desktop.

Nothing beats the flexibility, scalability and useability of Microsoft Windows® XP.

Open sores GNU Fucking Hippies will never be able to compete with those with paid jobs. Microsoft needs all the support they can get considering they power much of the US economy.

This can only be a good thing for suppliers of certain local government based software (SX3, Ocella) - many of their products used to run on UNIX alone, and even now some of them run emulated under W2K.

The council I work for runs iWorld, an SX3 product - unfortunately our UNIX admin is a bit of a fool and didn't notice when the project suggested running the system emulated. If he'd have been paying attention, we might have got some Linux boxen in!

I think they are going to get a firsthand look into the statement "Linux isnt free".

    Dear world members,

I am tired of the arrogance of the americans, they want to spread their culture, there army, their business without doing care of us.

Americans, why do you have yet basis on democratic countries like Japan and Germany ? You used Atomic bomb on the country of the rising sun, you bombarded all the cities of Germany killing thousands of children, I am really pissed of your comportments.

You initiated an embargo on South Africa for Apartheid when 20 years ago the Black were not allowed to vote in your own country, you want to give lessons on the jews deportations with your hollywood movies, when you killed almost all the native americans !

We don't need your help, we don't need you anymore : You are againt the russian intervention in Chechnya when you occupy Afghanistan and Irak !

Please amercans, leave Germany and Japan, go away from Middle East and Afghanistan, let the South American free and please don't apply embargo on French products : The world is free, we don't need to have your army on our soil !

If you don't do that, I am afraid we will be forced to declare war or send "Blue-helmets" in USA...

It is official; Netcraft now confirms: christianity is gay. One more crippling bombshell hit the already beleaguered christian community when IDC confirmed that the percantage of homosexual christians has risen yet again, now up to more than 97% of all christians. Coming on the heels of a recent Netcraft survey which plainly states that christianity has lost more heterosexual members, this news serves to reinforce what we've known all along. Christianity is collapsing into complete homosexuality, as fittingly exemplified by failing dead last in the recent Vatican City comprehensive heterosexual porno test.

You don't need to be a fudge packer to predict christianity's future. The hand writing is on the wall: christianity faces a bleak future. In fact there won't be any future at all for christianity because christianity is gay. Things are looking very bad for christianity. As many of us are already aware, christianity continues to gain fudge packers. Ball juice flows like a river of blood.

Due to the troubles of Anal crack, abysmal procreation and so on, christianity went out of business and was taken over by islam who sell another troubled belief system. Now islam is also gay, its pecker turned over to yet another whore house.

All major surveys show that christianity has steadily increased in semen consumption. christianity is very gay and its long term survival prospects are very dim. If christianity is to survive at all it will be among gay paedophiles. Christianity continues to decay. Nothing short of a miracle could save it at this point in time. For all practical purposes, christianity is gay.

    Fact: christianity is gay
