Samba 3.0 Beta Released

Znonymous Coward writes "Samba 3.0 Beta was released yesterday. The most notable new feature appears to be active directory integration. The announcment and release notes are here and you can download the binary or source. Don't forget to submit issues to Bug Zilla."

    Because Tridge is pretty conservative on releases. Beta really means BETA 'though. Not semi-functional Alpha. AD- support! Goodbye Windows at my house...

      The alphs version was actually pretty decent too and Webmin already has support for it.

    I see there's a whole slew of net commands to mimic Windows (nice to have when your GUI is stupid, or you have to browse thousands on Windows machines). I wonder if it includes a command to crash an NT, with the right packet sequence.

    Unfortunately, since the story was posted over the weekend, a lot of /. readers won't see it.

    Please, go ahead and post a duplicate story - blame it on me. I just want to read what knowledgeable people have to write.

      I think it's more a case that some stories, like this one, don't show up on the default front page. It is nice to be able to see an article now and again that's not swamped with too many comments. They tend to degredate the signal to noise ratio.
