RealPC For Mac Delayed By MS Cease And Desist

mgh02114 writes "Microsoft recently purchased the Windows-on-a-Mac emulation program "Virtual PC" from Connectix. Since then, FWB announced that they were working to revive their competing 'Real PC' Windows emulation program for Macintosh OS X. Well, now it looks like Microsoft is trying to kill that program as well. FWB announced that: 'FWB is working diligently to update Real PC and Softwindows for OSX. In May, while working on this project, we received a setback in the form of a cease and desist letter from Microsoft. We are working to resolve the issues with Microsoft, and this has caused some delay, much to our frustration. We are committed to having a beta for you to test for us and help us optimize, this summer. We think we have only lost a few weeks of time to this issue.' FWB appreciates your continued patience and support."

RealPC was crap, and was only more successful at the time because it's competitor was Softwindows, which did API translation rather than hardware virtualization. Then Connectix's VPC came out and blew everyone out of the water.

I bet FWB are trying to bring it back simply to capitalize on the anti-microsoft sentiment in the mac community. "Buy this! It's not from microsoft!"

    Dear Apple,

I am a homosexual. I bought an Apple computer because of its well earned reputation for being "the" gay computer. Since I have become an Apple owner, I have been exposed to a whole new world of gay friends. It is really a pleasure to meet and compute with other homos such as myself. I plan on using my new Apple computer as a way to entice and recruit young schoolboys into the homosexual lifestyle; it would be so helpful if you could produce more software which would appeal to young boys. Thanks in advance.

    with much gayness,

    Dear Father O'Day:

Thanks for your letter. Being Catholic myself, I know exactly what you're talking about! It has always been our plan here at Apple Computer Inc to revolutionize personal computing with our high-quality and highly gay products.

I'm happy to answer your letter by letting you know that YES we will be releasing an entire hLife ("homo-life") software line. You'll be able to recognize it in stores by the small stylized logo depicting a large cock entering a tight anus with an Apple logo on it. ("Suddenly it all comes together" indeed!).

Anyway, I hope you and other members of our community will join us on our mission, and purchase the exciting new hLife boxed set. Only the boxed set comes with translucent cock rings!

In theory Virtual PC makes MS happy campers. Buy VPC and you have to have a box (or 2) of Windows.

While same thing should be true for the (forever sucking) FWB product the revival does raise the horrible specter of competition to MS AKA the world's greatest, craftiest, and most dishonest monopoly.

Actually MS is stoopid. If I wanted to buy the (now) FWB product and couldn't, was forced to buy VPC from Microsoft, I... wouldn't. I wouldn't buy a sucking PC with Windows or a box of Windows unless it cost 29 cents (good target practice for my Glock 17 9mm at that price).

But, OTOH, most Mac users I suppose would cowtow if they *had* (or think they had) to have access to Windows.

Welcome to the world of OSX and things unixy. I can't get some unique Microsoft app to connect to a MS network? Screw 'em. I wouldn't want to connect to the network if forced to do so with Windows (am trying to think what that sucker is called... not Outlook... but connects easily to the sucking MS assorted networks in big corporatations blah blah)....

And I ain't looking for nor accepting a job from a big corporation anyway ... that makes rejecting one because of their sucking MS IT system running IIS or whatever a lot easier, doesn't it?

    Fuck Microsoft.

(I love it. Two of my favorite words and I get a chance to use them!!!) :) LOL

My thanks to whoever dug up this link. It isn't everyday (almost, but not *every* day) that I get to use my two favorite words. Yes, I know, I could cheat and visit /. regularly and find some reason, but this one fell in my lap.

I love it. Fuck Microsoft. Now doesn't that sound great to read as well as write? :)

And now, back to running Mac OSX, SuSE, and Darwin. I have a new fourth drive and I can't decide what to install. What fun. And no, it won't be anything running VPC and my Macs don't do Windows. :)
