Anandtech Dissects The New iPod
oDDmON oUT writes "Anandtech dissects the new version of Apple's iPod in this review. Everything is given a thorough going over, complete with photos. While not revelatory, consider this the must-have addition to the manual."
According to the Article, only MP3 and AAC are supported.
There's no mention of Windows Media, SHN, WAV, or Audible.com's formats being able to work on this iPod. Not too exciting if MP3 and AAC are the only formats supported.

I quit reading "performance enthusiast" sites in 1997. These sites are just group therapy for spendthifts who want higher Quake framerates...
Anand and his fellow prick with ears, Tom from Tom's hardware guide, like to pretend they know something about computers because they can slap together a few graphs. They are wrong about technical issues so many times it's almost funny.
Apple is very strict on sending out review samples of their hardware, but regardless of whether we get a product or not, if there's a demand for a review we'll do whatever it takes to make sure you get the information you need to make an educated buying decision.
Translation: WAAAH! Apple isn't sending us free crap like Abit and our other advertisers! They realize that our site is worthless!
The prefetching algorithm isn't well documented (partially for IP reasons), but you can guess that it basically looks ahead at the next 32MB of songs (including the current one being played) and pulls them into main memory, thus spinning down the hard drive.
Holy crap, Anand, you're a fucking genius! If I send you this burned-out 15 inch monitor I'm about to toss in the dumpster, will you write a review as scintillating? I can only hope!
