S.Bartfarst writes "NASA's Cool Robot of the Week (which apparently is about a month long) has produced a huge spike of activity on our web page from .gov and .mil domains. Most interesting are a long series of hits from uspto.gov. Maybe looking for "prior art?" I wonder how much of this Dean Kamen already has tied up?"

    These robots look really interesting... I feel like using the word antidisestablishmentarianism about here. It's a well known fact that moderators don't generally bother to read posts. Therefore, if a post is long enough, and starts with a relevant sentence, I feel there's a fair change it will get modded up. Robots eh? I'd make some intelligent comment about the linked sites, but this is Slashdot, so I didn't bother visiting them. Erm... Marvin... He was a robot. Yup. And so was Data. Data had a cat. I feel that even if the moderators aren't impressed by the sheer length of my post, they'll mod me up for the breadth of my Star Trek knowledge, since this is Slashdot! I feel I should have a paragraph break somewhere around here, to make my post look more convincing.


    I can't think of a whole lot more to say about robots, so I'll tell you about my dinner. Today for dinner, I had roast lamb with mint sauce, boiled potatoes, and some vegetables. I don't particularly like lamb. I did follow it up with some ice cream however, so all in all, it was another successful meal. I feel I should make a comment about how great open source software is now, just in case any moderators are using software to automatically mod people up! Linux ownz Micro$oft!! Lets face it, the whole robot topic is really dull anyway... could anyone really care less if NASA's managed to make some 4 foot long robot trundle around a room? Big deal... unless it runs Linux of course! I think I might try another paragraph now


    I'm going to attempt some italic text now, because I haven't used it before Here are some italics I'm not sure how successful that will be, because I can never remember which kind of slash to use for closing HTML tags, so if all the rest of my text is in italics, I'm really sorry. I wonder what the ECODE tag is for... hmm... I'd also like to apologise profusely to anyone who's actually taken the time to read this post. I think it's probably getting to a reasonable length now... Mod me up!

    If the robot cannot defecate and urinate on command it's not worth the time.

    Besides, is it any wonder that robots are reading about another robot?
