iBox Episode 2

coolgeek writes "According to this article on Wired, the iBox (original SlashDot post), later renamed to the CoreBox, has run into some trouble. Their strategy is to clone Mac computers using spare parts from repair centers. Evidently, the supplier of the repair parts was reminded by Apple Computer's Legal Department that supplying to a computer manufacturer was a breach of contract. Consequently, the supplier has chosen to stop supplying parts. More information on at the CoreComputing website, and they say the game isn't over yet..."

This is exactly why I can't stand Apple computers, their owners, and all the goddamn artsy Mac loving freaks at my school. 1. The Mac zealots all bemoan Redmond and their monopoly of the x86 o/s market, whilst completely ignoring the complete vertical monopoly Apple maintains over the MAC. 2. Typical that 'for the Mac CAUSE' Mac owners would pay more, to preserve the great Apple alternative. However I must not that I did see an article on pcstats today imploring the AMD faithful to buy higher priced 3000XP and UP to preserve AMD, and stop buying $50 1700XP and oc'ng the XXXX out of them. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1 409&page=7 Unlike some previous launches, the AthlonXP 3200+ is readily available which shows that AMD no longer has any manufacturing problems. What they need though is for the AMD fans out there to "put up" and buy the higher end processors instead of "getting the $50 processor and overclocking". Sigh⦠right, Iâ(TM)d rather pay $50, AMD needs to pull it head out and get the Athlon64 out the doorâ¦â¦ Or oh Iâ(TM)ve got a solution to keep Mac and AMD zealots happy (or at least keep apple in business) Move the OS to x86-64. Think of it OS X on Dual Opteronâ(TM)s â¦â¦oh wait now I am dreaming. =\

I don't care about what's on their contract, I could sign a contract with you that would allow you to publically torture me to death but it doesn't mean it's right morally or legally to torture someone.

If Apple would wake up and come up with an x86 compatibility such that real software actually ran on the Mac, that'd be one thing. But they think they still run the computing world.
