    Amazing. I never thought of bogus quoting as a troll technique. The obviousness of the tactic is pretty astounding now that I see it, however. Since people seldom read the whole article, you could probably slip some pretty inflammatory comments encased in quotation marks right under the disbelief radar and get the community bile going. :)

    I'm not sure that it counts as the same idea, but lately [during the last couple of months] trolls have started pasting linked articles ["in case of slashdotting"], and adding an not-esp-subtle homosexual reference in the bottom of the last paragraph.

    IMHO, if they're going to go full out that way, they should take the 30 seconds and insert an bogus and inflammatory statement in the middle of the article before posting it.

    Unless Rowling's prior works contain descriptions of Potter changing into a troll, or straddling a double bass, Time-Warner publishing is simply inventing new law as it sees fit.

    Some of us believe the Stanford Linear Collider is worth funding, even if it does help the CIPA. It's not as if it'll ever get commercial funding, and the potential for advancing human understanding of quantum physics and thus the universe itself is remarkable.

    If that means a little less porn, that's a price I'm prepared to pay.
